Film Night - I, Daniel Blake

21/06/2017 06:30 PM - 21/06/2017 11:00 PM

In Newcastle, Daniel in his 50's has a heart condition and is firmly told he is unable to work. He heroically struggles with the bureaucracy of the benefit system. Whilst Katie, a single mum from London, has to cope with the effect of a move to the unknown North, following a homeless allocation.

The acting and directing are so exceptional it feels like a documentary.

Ken Loach came out of retirement to make this film saying "We must say that another world is possible and necessary."

"Ken Loach is back on song with a protest cry for common humanity in the face of modern Britains welfare web"
