Museum on the Move invites you to explore the rich history of Haslingden through the stories relating to its local businesses. This exciting project is a collaboration between The Whitaker Museum and Art Gallery and Rossendale Borough Council, aiming to uncover and celebrate the unique heritage of the area.
The journey begins at Haslingden Library, where an exhibition of historical objects related to local businesses sets the stage for a self-guided trail through the town centre. Each participating business features a window display with fascinating facts and stories about the building and its past. Visitors can scan a QR code on each display to access in-depth blogs that delve deeper into Haslingden’s local history.
To conclude the project, a special exhibition will be held at The Whitaker Museum and Art Gallery. This final showcase will feature items from the museum’s social history collection alongside contributions from the businesses involved, offering a dynamic look at Haslingden’s past and present.
