Bestselling Author Stacey Halls Featured in Lancashire Life
We are thrilled to share that our brilliant museum patron, bestselling author Stacey Halls, is featured in the October issue of Lancashire Life Magazine!
In a wonderful interview celebrating her gothic historical fiction and northern roots, Stacey discusses how growing up in Rawtenstall and exploring the rugged local landscape shaped her creative vision.
A Childhood Sparked at The Whitaker
For Stacey, a love of history started right here at The Whitaker. Visiting as a young girl, she recalls being fascinated by our collection—from the historic drawing room to our famous, quirky taxidermy displays (including the python eating a tiger and the shrunken head!).
“It would fire something up in me. My love of history was fed there,” Stacey shares in the article.
Bringing The Whitaker into Fiction
Local readers and museum visitors might recognize a piece of The Whitaker in Stacey’s third novel, Mrs England. The unsettling West Yorkshire house featured in the story was directly inspired by the architecture and feel of The Whitaker building itself!
Beyond her novels, Stacey is passionate about supporting northern culture, leading creative writing workshops, and championing young working-class writers. As a patron, she looks forward to supporting our creative workshops, community events, and hosting future talks at the museum.
