A houseful of Stories

Local history, significant people and curious objects!

Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at a museum? Do you want to test your knowledge of your local area and maybe find out some fascinating facts along the way? Need inspiration for that story or poem you want to write or that play you want to produce? Then get yourself to The Whitaker!

This workshop can be booked for a morning or afternoon session.

Explore The Whitaker

Sessions focus on local history, the life of a museum and its collections and how objects can be used to tell stories of past societies , inspire drama, poetry, writing and music. Pupils are given a safe space to explore the past, meet the present and have a voice in creating the future.

You will work with a knowledgeable local tour guide and museum staff on this 2 hour exploration of The Whitaker. Hear true stories about Rossendale and notable people from the past, find out why we have a tiger and a phyton and make your own mini-museum to keep.
