SPECTACLE by Jude Wainwright

Roll up, roll up! Spectacle is a major new solo exhibition by Manchester-based artist Jude Wainwright. Through portraits and object-based works, Wainwright explores identity, memory and performance. Her portraits are often veiled, layered with symbols that invite viewers to look closer, questioning what lies beneath the surface and how we choose to present ourselves to the world. Alongside the works on display, the exhibition features elements of audience participation, inviting visitors to step into the spectacle themselves. Developed in response to The Whitaker’s collection, the exhibition weaves together personal narratives with cultural artefacts, creating a space where the past and present collide.
