The Whitaker are delighted to offer educational visits to schools. We want your visit to be inspiring and entertaining, bringing the curriculum to life. Combining visual arts and living history, we make use of our varied collections, and the museum setting itself, to develop pupils’ understanding and skills. Our staff are experienced in supporting different needs and abilities.
Learning Sessions Example
Printmaking - Full day / KS 1/2/3 / Art
Come and develop mono-printing techniques with your class and take home a ready made display for your school. Using sketch books in the museum children can collect ideas from the museum and the park which will be developed through printmaking later in the day.
In addition to learning sessions, groups will have access to the Museum and its amazing natural history collection, including the much loved Tiger and Python, Baby Elephant, Polar Bear, Platypus and many Birds. There will also be opportunity to learn more about our local story, notably, George Hardman and his family who lived here until the end of the 19th Century and local man Richard Whitaker who turned the building into a museum and park for the people of Rossendale.
Each full day session costs £5 per pupil.
Accompanying staff are free.
