Liam spencer: home & Away | Apr 21st - jun 17
Home and Away is a new exhibition by acclaimed artist Liam Spencer. Through a series of paintings, ink drawings and digital art it explores his home patch of Rossendale, alongside work from overseas including New York, Nepal and Australia. Featured is a piece entitled “A Rossendale Compendium”, a large compilation of small ink drawings cataloguing the flora, fauna and landmarks that the artist has ‘collected’ on his travels.

The Whitaker Museum and Art Gallery, in association with Head Chef David Dewhurst’s company, Foodypants, presents a relaxed, family-friendly, all-day barbeque and musical event. ‘Moorish Grill and Chill’ will be serving up North African inspired food, an outdoor bar, and there’ll be a DJ spinning soulful vibes. Food served 12-7, with a late bar, all the making for a perfect way long weekend.
HALF TERM CRAFTS: THE CAR MAN | may 30th - jun 1st 2018
Come along and join local artist Kate Nash for more fun, creative activities in our popular school holiday craft sessions. Kate will be using the exhibition in the Whitaker's Art Gallery, Liam Spencer's 'Home and Away', as inspiration for a range of craft activities. Most of the crafting will take place inside, however there's every chance that the young participants will also be encouraged outdoors - it could get messy
Covering two of the main rooms on the first floor of the house. These are impressive rooms with views across the valley and, having been recently upgraded, they now provide a light, contemporary space, suitable for exploring and exhibiting the best new art. The team at the Whitaker are passionate about delivering a range of exhibitions throughout the year that will appeal to a number of audiences from the keen observer to the serious collector.

With a fresh and informal approach to our menu, we provide a choice of light 'brunch style' dishes made from the highest quality locally sourced ingredients, all designed to allow you to enjoy throughout the morning into late afternoon. Our menu is influenced from foods around the world including Vegetarian, Vegan and Gluten Free options being served alongside Afternoon Tea there is something for everyone to enjoy.
You can also enjoy a fully licensed bar, as well as the finest Illy coffee or highest quality Jing Tea, alongside our famed cake collection baked fresh in house.

From Orangutan to Platypus, Polar Bear to Elephant the museum collection of animals includes over 9000 preserved specimens.
The zoology collection includes many mounted mammals, most of the best are on display. A large collection of shells, many birds, eggs and entomology. The collection is worldwide in scope, with specimens from the Arctic to Asia, Africa to Europe as well as animals from our local environment.
