Samuel Bamford was a weaver, poet, and political reformer.
Born in Middleton, Lancashire in 1788 he is still loved and respected in his hometown. His life traversed the pre and post-industrial eras in Northern England and his two autobiographies published in his lifetime provide a vivid and tangible insight into life during this volatile period of British life.
