The Pear Project: Workshops

As part of our Performance Art event on 22 October, these workshops (on 13 October and 15 October) invite you to explore travelling, ideas around belonging and how we shape our identity.

With your booking, you are welcome to drop-in to the workshops at any time from 11am until 3pm.

Over mint, cardamom and rose water tea, you will be invited to create in response to questions such as what makes a home?, do you prefer to travel alone or in company? and where would you like to be right now?

After the workshop,
You might leave with your hands covered in paint, or soil.
You might leave with a small drawing or a short poem.
You might leave with new stories or a way of retelling the old.

Thursday 13 October: Bilal Zafar Ranjha Bilal is an MA student in Performance at MMU. He’s going to be holding conversations with older members of the Longsight community, mainly in Urdu. He is interested in the journeys people choose to or are compelled to take. He will be exploring the decisions people make to leave a place and what is left behind.

His workshop will involve a facilitated conversation over tea and baked goods with participants.

Saturday 15 October: Xhi Ndubisi
Xhi is a North West based interdisciplinary Artist and Producer, her mother told stories, as did her mother’s mother, and possibly the mothers before her. Xhi continues a family tradition; in her home, there is always a story in construction - one about a heart broken by the colour blue, or a woman humbled by a dirty kebab.
