Looking for Clues
Kerry Tenbey: Lancashire New Graduate Exhibition 2021
Looking for Clues is an exhibition of research, ideas and artworks by graduate artist and curator Kerry Tenbey (b.1990).Tenbey explores overlaps of materials, place, identity, process and information. They are interested in human connections to the material world. Their sculptures embody notions of queerness and queer coding and respond to the experience of being a queer person within natural landscapes They also seek to examine the recognisable traces we leave behind, both purposefully and accidentally.
Tenbey uses everyday accessible materials to mimic landscapes and rebuild familiar surroundings as artificial islands. Each one exaggerates the traces we leave upon surfaces. Their work could be described as a scavenger hunt, moving from place to place, Looking for Clues.
The Whitaker is committed to supporting talent in Lancashire and celebrating the success of our artists.
Earlier this year, we invited submissions for an exhibition opportunity for a new arts graduate from Lancashire who graduated with an arts degree this year, 2021, to exhibit in our galleries.
In addition to the exhibition opportunity, Kerry will receive a fee, 1-1 professional development and curatorial advice from our Creative Director, Gaynor Seville, technical support to install the exhibition and support from our marketing team.
