Richard Cafiero: Being Human

About the artist.

Currently based in Padiham, Burnley Richard Cafiero gained over 50 years ago a BFA in Graphic Arts and Design and an MFA in Fine Arts in the State of California. He participated in many exhibitions and in 1970 was selected by the City of Los Angeles as that year's “New Talent”. He completed a number of commissions and solo shows and served as President of the Westwood Art Association. Cafiero moved to Burnley and had a long career as a Specialist Nurse and Head of Rochdale Health’s Learning Disability Services from 1985 – 2005. He returned to working as an artist after retirement. As well as showing his own work he has Chaired the Gay and Lesbian Arts Society and also chaired the Littleborough Arts Festival for 10 years.
  • Dates
    Saturday 4th December 2021 – Sunday 6th February 2022

Official Opening: 3rd December at 7pm.

This event has expired. Bookings are no longer being taken.

The concepts and context of the Surrealist movement had a big impact on the content of Cafiero’s work. He attempts to use colour and imagery within his work to create additional dimensions. In recent years Cafiero has embraced the use of digital technology and print processes.

The focus of this exhibition is being human, and is presented in two parts focusing on being human from the inside, and perspectives on being human from the outside.
