The first Irish language feature film to be nominated for an Oscar. It’s based on Booker-prize nominated author Claire Keegan’s novella Foster. We explore through a child’s eyes how Cait (The Quiet Girl) adapts to being separated from her family and sent to stay with relations in Irish speaking Ring, County Waterford. Set in 1981, the story, the scenery and the performances of the whole cast contribute to a gentle gem. ‘Ireland’s nominee for Best International Feature should, in a just world, be up for Best Picture. Do yourself a favour and see it as soon as you can’, Rolling Stone.
