DUSK: A wave of words across the UK (Free Event)

DUSK Soltice Shorts Festival ROSSENDALE

The Whitaker presents an informal and varied evening of live stories, poems and songs, celebrating the theme of Dusk. This celebration of the Winter Solstice is part of a wider national participation event organised by Arachne Press and supported using public funding by Arts Council England. Twelve chosen locations nationwide are taking part in the Dusk event, starting in Shetland and finishing in Redruth in Cornwall. The event will take place at The Whitaker as the sun sets, between 5.19pm and 6.02pm, matching the astronomical time of dusk in Rossendale.

The event, featuring actor Neil Bell and local writer and poet Tony Curry, plus music and song from Sarah Grundy of Joan & the Wad, will be British Sign Language interpreted by Rose Fitzgerald, whom we offer our sincerest thanks. Needless to say the Whitaker’s café bar will also be open for drinks of the warming and / or alcoholic variety, making for a cosy and charming early evening celebration.
