Whitaker Film Club offer - book all 10 Film Nights for just £50!


The Whitaker's monthly Film Night offer has something for everyone - comedy, drama, vintage, brand new, foreign, arthouse, Kino, heartwarming, thought-provoking.... whatever your tickles your cinematic fancy there's something here for you.  Individually, you can come to each film for £6.50. However, if you plan ahead and you're thrifty, you can book all ten films for just £50 - that's a fiver for each film.  In addition, we're offering you 25% off a two-course pre-screening dining experience (food only, drinks not included) at the Whitaker on the night. Thurs 20 Sept: A Fantastic Woman
Sebastián Lelio's Oscar-winning film about a transgender woman fighting for acceptance and for her voice to be heard.

 

Thurs 18 Oct: Bicycle Thieves
Routinely voted one of the greatest of all time, this 1948 film is a simple, powerful film about a man who needs a job and has his bike stolen.

 

Thurs 15 Nov: In Between
Part of a new wave of realist Palestinian cinema, a thrumming soundtrack from Palestinian hip-hop artists DAM provides a heady backdrop to the alternative city lifestyle as we see the three young flatsharers caught in between modern life in the city and their traditional values.


Thurs 20 Dec: Loving Vincent
A feature-length painted animation - the first film of its kind - which explores the life and death of Vincent Van Gogh via depictions of his artworks.

 

Thurs 17 Jan 2019: Kino Festival on Tour (Kino Shorts)
Back by popular demand, Manchester International Short Film Festival presents an excellent programme of UK and International short films that scooped the awards at this year's Festival.

 

Thurs 21 Feb: Ladybird
Saoirse Ronan and Laurie Metcalf are electric in Ladybird as a warring teenage daughter and mother in Greta Gerwig’s beautifully observed coming of age comedy-drama.

 

Thurs 21 Mar: Custody
A devastating low key, high impact study of domestic abuse which garnered rave reviews upon its release.

 

Thurs 18 Apr: Faces Places
A funny, moving and multi-layered film - two kindred spirits from different generations explore the French countryside in a camera van, taking photos of the people they meet.

 

Thurs 16 May: Aquarius
An eloquent saga from Brazil following Clara, the last resident of the Aquarius building who is determined not to lose her home and is prepared to fight.

 

Thurs 20 June: Sergio & Sergei
A joyful, political satire about an unusual friendship, packed with absurdist comedy and warm-hearted characters.
