Many thanks to Terry Mulligan for his contribution to this exhibition, a long term collector of Mike’s work he felt passionately that people should see this wonderful art.
It is therefore with the greatest pleasure that we are showing you the work of an artist that is rarely seen in public.
With a delight and curiosity in nature, its landscapes and its people Mike Knowles has developed his wonderful style of painting, incorporating his love for traditional techniques with a painterly quality. From his rural landscapes to his portraits and his still life paintings, Mike is a colourist, his wizardry is in the translation of the textures and colour that surround him into his dramatic works of art.
His use of texture and the layering of paint capture the wind lashed contortions of the land, the diagonal hillsides, the bright yellow gorse of Spring, he captures crows and gulls that tack against a North Atlantic breeze and the trees that dance in the wind.
This exhibition brings together a selection of works straight from his studio in rural Anglesey and from Terry’s private collection in Cheshire. Knowles is an artist with classical overtones dating back to the Rennaissance period. To his former students to fellow painters and national known ex students this artists exhibition is one not to be missed.
Please join us for a complimentary glass of wine at the exhibition opening on Saturday 23rd June from 2pm. This is a FREE event that does not require booking.
