Two Alder Grange students are preparing to launch their own album of original songs to raise money for charity and the school fund that helped them make their dream a reality.
Amber Cairns from year 11 at Alder Grange School and Rob Shingler from year 12 at Alder Grange Sixth Form first started ‘Half A Chorus’ as a result of the school’s song-writing club, which began in September on Friday lunchtimes.
Supported by teachers Dan Williams, Dan Harper and Jess Buckle, the band used these sessions to create a collection of original tracks and after being successful with their bid to the Alder Grange Aspiration Fund, recorded them professionally at Studio Studio in Whitworth.
The official album launch night, here at the Whitaker, will raise money for two good causes locally – Rossendale Hospice and the Alder Grange Aspiration Fund, to help future students pursue their interests and passions.
The album artwork was designed by year 12’s James Ready, who won the band’s design competition, keeping each element of the creative process at Alder Grange.
The band will be performing their original tracks live on the night and there will be an opportunity to purchase limited edition copies of the album.
All funds go to Rossendale Hospice and Alder Grange Aspiration Fund.
Performances from Half a Chorus followed by an Open Mic, hope to see you all there.
